(AVLYST) FILM: V for Vendetta
“People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people”
Unlike certain other masked protagonists of the DC universe, V is not concerned with keeping the status quo. V is only motivated by his own political agenda, bordering the line between anarchistic anti-hero and a symbol of freedom amidst an oppressive regime.
The original visual novel (Alan Moore, David Lloyd) released in 1982, was a dark allegory of the current political landscape. Many of the societal issues central to both the movie and the original novel, like ethnoreligious persecution, white supremacy and gay rights, are still relevant to this day.
