(AVLYST) FILM: The Crow
“If the people we love are taken from us, the way they live on is to never stop loving them”
Are you ready to get your goth on?!
It is said that when we die a crow leads our soul to the afterlife. Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) and his fiancé Shelly are both killed in a gruesome event. But as a crow taps on Eric Draven’s grave, he is brought back to life. As his quest for revenge begins he becomes: “The Crow”. Will Eric get his revenge? And will he ever reunite with Shelly?
The Crow has received avid cult-following and a favourable consensus amongst audiences, with an 81% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Rolling Stone has even described it as a “dazzling fever dream of a movie”. Unfortunately, The Crow became Brandon Lee’s (son of legendary martial artist, Bruce Lee) final film appearance. Brandon was shot and killed during filming as a result of a fatal error from the prop department. The film, based on the graphic novel by James O’Barr, becomes a beautiful sendoff, even epitaph, to Lee himself.
