The Wave (2008)

“You think a dictatorship isn’t possible today?”

The modern-thinking high school teacher Rainer Wenger gets confronted by his students during his course about autocracy. They say that a fascistic regime is not possible today. During a project week Wenger starts with a role-playing game. At first they start with harmless notions, like discipline and community. They wear white shirts and spray their sign on the wall. But soon it leads into a real movement. They call it “The Wave”. After it escalates at a water polo game Wenger realizes that he has to stop it…

Even though the storyline increases very fast the movie tackles an interesting scenario, which gets even more depressing in today’s time.
