Güeros (2014)

This fresh comedy in black and white takes us on a roadtrip to a wild Mexico City in 1999.

Tomás is sent to Mexico City by his mother to live with his older brother who is attending college there. His brother and his best friend Santos are on a “strike of the student strike” living in an apartment in shambles stealing electricity from the neighbors. The presence of Tomás breaks their apathetic routine when he discover that Epgimenio Cruz, a legendary rock musician, is dying and decides to look for him. Meanwhile the National University students break out the strike that will have unexpected consequences on Sobra’s life.

In the search of Epigmenio Cruz, we are also shown a portrait of a young Mexican student generation. This is the debut of Ruizpalacios as a director who chose actor friends to make the film, his wife being one of the main roles, this adds an irreverent and casual feeling throughout the movie.
