FILM: One Way or Another

One Way or Another er debutfilmen til Cubas første kvinnelige regissør, Sara Gómez. Gómez er av afro-cubansk bakgrunn og skildrer de kontrastfylt tilstandene i Cuba etter revolusjonen. Filmen handler om et romantisk drama som speiler de sosiale relasjonene i Cuba. One Way or Another uttrykker en tydelig kritikk mot rasisme, sexisme og klasseforskjeller. Gómez kombinerer dokumentariske og fiktive elementer for å skape et reelt, både visuelt og kontekstuelt, bilde av Cuba.

One Way or Another is the debut and only feature of the Afro-cuban director Sara Gómez. She was a pioneering figure in Cuban cinema, and Only Way or Another was the first film by a woman
in Cuba. The film exists in an intersection between fiction and documentary, and it gives a feminist critique of the Cuban revolution.
