ManicMonday: Rya
Rya is a three piece band based in Oslo. Formed in 2014 out of a mutual need to drink beer, the band have been playing in and around Oslo ever since.
The band have not just ‘spent the summer in the studio recording their next single’, but been at home watching re-runs of ‘24’ on Netfix, unable to get gigs where the venue don’t operate a ‘pay to play’ policy.
With musical influences including Tony Hancock, The Sweeney, Bad News, The Buckingham Palace Band of the Honourable Artillery Company, and the N.U.M, Rya’s triumphant performances have been met with a euphoric wave of indifference wherever they have played.
Widespread predictions of domination of the pop world by tea-time October 27th from the singer’s 9 year old niece, a setlist amounting to nearly 30 songs, and 3 new chords learnt since January sees band currently experiencing a high that makes their live performances a ‘once only, must see’ event.
To quote Paul McCartney; ‘Now let’s write a swimming pool.’ Can’t say it better than that.
