FILM: Somewhere

Johnny Marco seems to have it all; Hollywood fame, money, success, fast cars and frequent but shallow encounters with plenty of women. When his 11-year old daughter from his failed marriage unexpectedly shows up at the hotel where he is currently residing, he’s forced to take on the role of being a parent and is, ironically, also forced to grow up.

Through Marco’s experiences we see the meaningless, even mundane, reality that lurks behind the scenes of a seemingly glamorous Hollywood lifestyle. In addition to celebrity ennui, the film clearly depicts the absurdity of show-business – notably illustrated through the hilarious pole dancing scenes, which verge on being parodic. Lastly, it explores the universal but nonetheless challenging obstacles of parenthood. With the given opportunity of a new path, which way will Marco choose to go?
