FILM: Fruit of Paradise

Fruit of Paradise er en avant-garde, filosofisk drama som gjenforteller historien om Adam og Eva i Edens hage. I likhet med Daisies, regissert av Chytilová fire år tidligere, kan Fruit of Paradise ses som en politisk film, fylt med symbolikk og bibelreferanser. Den utforsker tabubelagte temaer som var relevante i datidens Tsjekkoslovakia. Filmens surrealistiske og eksperimentelle fremstilling av den tradisjonelle historien om Adam og Eva gjenspeiler det tsjekkoslovakiske new wave-miljøet på 1960-tallet.

Fruit of Paradise is an avant-garde, philosophical drama and a vividly visual reimagination of the biblical tale about the Garden of Eden. With its political undertone, the movie explores taboos and is filled with symbolism and bible references. It reflects the Czechoslovakian new wave movement in the 60s that Chytilová herself was a part of.
